Dental Crowns

Restoring natural teeth with dental crowns is an important service we offer, and since many patients are concerned about the aesthetic of their smiles, our goal at Country Club Dental is to provide dental restorations that are as natural as possible. We replace existing but worn crowns and decayed fillings with restorations that look and feel similar to your natural teeth. Some patients worry that a porcelain or tooth-colored crown may lack strength and durability, but our office takes pride in placing BruxZirⓇ crowns, which are not only aesthetically pleasing but are also fabricated from solid zirconia to offer optimum strength and durability.

BruxZirⓇ has been proven to be extremely reliable and is also one of the dew companies that offers a replacement warranty. Another tooth colored alternative is a porcelain fused to the metal crown which is tooth colored on the surface with a gold base. Most patients prefer the BruxZirⓇ crowns, but some insurance companies will only cover a porcelain fused to metal crown, so we are more than happy to accommodate you with this as well.

How Long Does It Take to Fit a Dental Crown?

Fitting a crown requires two visits to our office. On the first visit, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown comprised of either plastic or metal. On the second visit, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new, beautiful looking tooth.

What are the Capabilities of Crowns?

Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused by accidents, diseases, or wear and tear over the years. Crown and bridge restorations can be used as a long-term solution. Hairline cracks in teeth can form as a result of frequent chewing over the years, and can even happen in teeth that had fillings placed. The cracks may be most painful after chewing. Placing crowns on teeth with hairline fractures can relieve the pain and allow a return of full dental function.

For front teeth, fillings are not a typical long-term solution. They are prone to chipping, which weakens the structure of the tooth over time. They are also prone to staining, which causes inconsistent discoloration of the tooth. A crown would eliminate these issues. Crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth that have had root canal therapy, a crown can protect the tooth from breakage.
