Here at Country Club Dental Flagstaff, we do more than clean teeth. And although we do that very well, we also believe in the importance of community involvement. Giving back to the community is an important part of our core values, because we want to contribute to making Flagstaff a wonderful place to live and work.
Our very own Dr. Whitney helped raise $10,000 dollars for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff, while also winning first place in the Chili Verde category at the Annual Flagstaff Chili Festival this year!
Dr. Whitney Helps Run the Flagstaff Chili Fest Every Year
The International Chili Society is dedicated to raising money for charity while also giving chili lovers a place to show off their skills. For over 50 years, ICS has helped chili connoisseurs and fans from across the country come together to decide who has the best chili. Winning an official ICS competition is worth more than bragging rights, it can also enter you into the World Championship Chili Cookoff.
Dr. Whitney had run a chili cookoff every year since 1988. In 2011 it grew to a two day competition and it’s name changed to the Flagstaff Chili Fest and became an official ICS event. These festivals are a wonderful way to spend time with your family and friends while tasting the best of the best that Flagstaff’s chili chefs have to offer.
The Importance of Community Involvement
Being able to help others, share interests, and promote kindness is an essential part of living around others. Community activities like the Flagstaff Chili Festival help us foster relationships with our neighbors and look after the children in our community.
This is why community service is at the heart of Country Club Dental, with both of our doctors giving back.
Dr. Whiteny not only organizes Chili Fest, he also donates time to Northern Arizona University’s Kiddie Clinic; a program dedicated to bringing dental care to children who need it in the community.
Dr. Weedman works with Give Kids a Smile as well. She is also involved with another program called AZ Mission of Mercy that helps provide free dental screenings for local residents in need.
